To the search and rescue teams: the men and women who run toward destruction while the rest of us run away— thank you. Your patience saves lives. Mine included. And to this extraordinary dog- I don’t have words big enough. So today, It is my honor to acknowledge your courage beyond instinct, loyalty beyond training, and love beyond explanation. This center will be a place of second chances—for strays who need safety, healing, and care. It will also be a place for dogs who show the quiet traits we now recognize as heroic: focus, empathy, resilience, and bravery. Here, they will be trained, supported, and prepared to one day do what saved my life. This center exists because one dog stayed. Because a team refused to quit.
