On the surface it looks harmless, but in Islam we don’t call upon God in a casual or joking way. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us to honor Allah’s names. Instead of saying “oh my God,” we can say “SubhanAllah,” “AstaghfirAllah,” or “Allahu Akbar,” which carry true meaning and respect.
